IT's in Conservation (ITiC) provides mobile and smartphone solutions, whether you need a full UK wide mobile mapping solution or simply want a few mobile compatible web pages to highlight one of your visitor sites.

Most of our clients combine online mobile websites with a map based trail around their heritage site, together with QR Code and NFC Tag signs at key points that can utilise mobile scanning or GPS location triggers.

Whatever your heritage site requires, we can provide you with guidance, expert knowledge and the skills to build and deliver your mobile solution.

Simple visitor site trail maps

The most cost effective solution that provides a full map of your visitor site in the form of a trail linking key points of interest, all triggered by QR Codes, NFC Tags or linking to mobile web pages.

More complex GPS mapping solutions

Full GPS triggered mapping solutions based on ViewRanger that can incorporate existing National Trail maps, bespoke visitor trail maps, Google, OS or 3D mapping, GPS triggered waypoints, ability for users to create, save and share their own maps, thoughts and visit pictures via social media.

Mobile application development

The scope of mobile applications depends on individual requirements but can include your branding and colour scheme, built-in QR code reader and NFC tag reader apps, complete visitor map trails, GPS trigger points and links to mobile web pages via the app menu or bespoke mobile functionality.

These technologies are only a few of the new, cost effective and practical mobile solutions ITiC is researching and implementing. To see all the ITiC consulting and smartphone services Click here

 Smartphone GPS and Route Mapping

Using location features on smartphones

Almost all modern smartphones now have GPS services built-in that can be switched on to provide accurate locations at heritage sites.

By linking GPS with mapping solutions such as ViewRanger, users can easily navigate routes such as National Trails, follow heritage site map trails, create their own favourite outdoor routes or have fun with geocache trails.

Not only that, but ViewRanger enables them to record and share routes with friends, together with the ability to take pictures along the way and broadcast these using Twitter or Facebook.

To use ViewRanger you'll need their app and GPS on your phone. ViewRanger also offers over 10,000 detailed UK maps to download.
