Using location features on smartphones
Almost all modern smartphones now have GPS services built-in that can be switched on to provide accurate locations at heritage sites.
By linking GPS with mapping solutions such as ViewRanger, users can easily navigate routes such as National Trails, follow heritage site map trails, create their own favourite outdoor routes or have fun with geocache trails.
Not only that, but ViewRanger enables them to record and share routes with friends, together with the ability to take pictures along the way and broadcast these using Twitter or Facebook.
To use ViewRanger you'll need their app and GPS on your phone. ViewRanger also offers over 10,000 detailed UK maps to download.
