About Us

Who runs the Cycle Forum?     How you can help improve local cycling and cycle routes
The Chichester Cycle Forum

We work towards creating conditions so cycling is perceived as a valid and reasonable choice of transport for work and leisure purposes.

  • The Chichester and District Cycle Forum was founded by Sarah Sharp, who campaigned successfully for the 20 mph limit introduction in central Chichester
  • Chris Sprules, who works for the sustainable transport charity Sustrans took over as Chairman for 3 years
  • Rupert Emerson, a transport researcher for 20 years, now chairs the Forum

Other active participants are from Sustrans and local cycling groups, but we also have several individuals who contribute regularly to improve the provision of cycling in the area.

    Contribute your views

Anyone is welcome to come and take part in the Forum.

Your opinions on local cycling and cycle routes help us put forward a consistent view to Councillors, Council Officers and local authorities.

We tell them what improvements people want to see to make cycling fun, safe and enjoyable for everyone, of any age.

The City, District and County Council are a key part of the Forum. Councillors and officers come and share plans and projects to hear local views and listen to the suggestions from others on the forum.

The Forum meets three or four times a year – just get in touch with us and we will let you know when the next meeting is taking place.

The Secretary of the forum is Ivan Western, a local cyclist who works at West Sussex County Council.
